July 17th, 2008

Peter Mellor and the boys (namely, Val and Sandy– who are proper ladies) swung another beach soccer tourney Florida’s way this past weekend with astounding success… the largest to date given their illustrious 18 year history. EIGHTEEN YEARS, people– that makes Sir Pete the official proprietor of the nation’s longest and oldest beach soccer tourney which is pretty darn cool. Even folks from around the globe stopped in to give beach soccer a try (like these cats from Israel above)… the weather was great and the beach gorgeous as always… excellent work, mate… can’t wait to see how the Ft. Myers venue goes!

Soccadelic procurs services of infamous former black hat “DarkCyde”…

July 15th, 2008

darkcyde2.jpg

Former black hat-turned white hat and notorious hacker “DarkCyde” has recently been enlisted to implement Soccadelic’s worldwide web optimization plan for an undisclosed sum of money. Strategic seeding will roll out within the year to yield top five rankings in a variety of international search engines for terms such as “beach soccer”, “beach soccer tournaments”, “beach soccer ball”, and “Lindsay Lohan”. As the sport of beach soccer grows globally, Soccadelic seeks a greater presence in online sales to establish its brand in the world market. In his role as former KGB head of cyber warfare, DarkCyde was rumored to have hacked the Pentagon’s firewall in just under 17 minutes… now let’s see if he can help us sell some Soccasocks.

New Jersey, baby… yeah, daz right!

beach-blast.jpg

Dude, what a overwhelming experience the Cape Express Beach Blast was in Wildwood, New Jersey!!! New Jersey?! Yeah, you heard me… only the biggest freakin’ beach soccer tournament in the world! This thing is H-U-G-E… over 1000 teams and about fifty thousand people– that’s FIFTY THOUSAND PEOPLE, people– showed up for the two day event of some serious hard core soccer on the Jersey shore. You couldn’t even see all 110 fields– the boardwalk was jammed with merchants selling to the beach soccer scene– soccer entertainers came in– kids having the time of their lives– I’m tellin’ ya, what an atmosphere! Everyone there was way into beach soccer and it was a crazy amount of fun– Mike Granigan and Mike Waldron are the masterminds behind the operation and enough can’t be said about how efficiently they pull together the logistics for such a tournament. Serious thanks to all the Cape Express club and volunteers for killing it… we can’t wait for next year!

Santa Monica Tourney goes most fabulous…

June 13th, 2008

saddleback-chicas.jpg

Jeff Sundy ad Andy Rock have pulled off another sweet beach soccer event at the iconic Santa Monica pier and boardwalk this past weekend. They had 180 teams and loads of entertaining things to do for both days of the tourney. The weather was perfect and lots of high level play was found… the part I really liked was “Danny the DJ” came over from England and kept the tunes spinning all day. Loved it… and by the way, that cat is insane. Most notable were the appearances by the Brazil national beach soccer head coach and World Cup of Beach Soccer MVP Bejamin… that dude can PLAY! We’re looking forward to the future of the game here in SoCAl with that kind of promotion– big time, kiddos. Not a bad job for a couple of WCSA homeys…

socal_beach_fc.jpg

Hats off to Marc Koehler and Gino Rossi for pulling off one of the greatest first time entries into the world famous NASSC in Virginia Beach. In the semis the boys upended defending champs Lusitanos FC and made a fantastic showing in the finals only losing by a golden goal at the very end of the match. Soccadelic sponsors SoCal FC and certainly looks forward to the future of the game with quality players from our own backyard developing into a powerhouse beach soccer club. Check em out at www.socalbeachfc.com… excellent job, guys—–

SCBSC
So the Southern California Beach Soccer Championships in Oceanside just passed this last weekend, and was a huge success. Soccadelic supplied the official ball, SoccaSocks and plenty of uniforms and tees, and we just done blew up in sales (ahem).

But far more important, the kids had a great time and there was some top-flight adult competition - pretty boy Rafa Xexeo (pictured), Shannon MacMillan, Joy Fawcett, Tom Dooley and John O’Brien all took part.

Hometown paper North County Times was all over the event, so check em out:

Check back soon for a whole mess of pix and videos of the tourney.

All this…and the summer’s just getting started!

Oceanside beach soccer tournament huge success!

May 7th, 2008

Man…what a great tournament…Thanks Gino and Marc for putting on such a tremendous job.  From the minute that I pulled up, and the smoke cleared, I was inline for parking beach side parking.  I spotted the Soccadelic tent from a mile away, and quickly pulled up and unloaded the extra box of balls for the second day of the tournament.

Jed and John were already there at 7:30 am getting set up.  On the first day of the tournament, they didn’t have a minute to eat or breath.  They were just too busy selling SoccaSocks to everyone playing beach soccer.

I parked my car, put on my SoccaSocks and helped them get the booth all spiffied up to show everyone what we got!

The vibe at the tournament was great, people were smiling, yelling, and playing beach soccer.  There was some great food and drinks and it was also great to reconnect with some people I haven’t seen in a while.

Always great to see Jaime and Leslie and James.  Thanks to all the people who came bye our booth to show your support of our support for beach soccer….Does that make sense

Ah Miami, mi ami…

April 15th, 2008

miami-vice.jpgMan, how I love this town! It’s hard not to dig a place where the weather is perfect and the killer Cuban cuisine is everywhere. Of course the vibe is complete SoMeric (that’s my slanged out take on “South America”) and everybody pretty much digs the heck out of futbol… especially the ol’ futbol de playa. Anyway, Soccadelic forced me down here to hang out and chitty-chat up the the US Men’s Beach Soccer Team who have their try-outs going on. These guys have unbelievable skills and it gives new perspective to see the game played at that level. Just so long as Zaz thinks this trip is all about bizwax and that I didn’t go down to South Beach in my speedo… pictures to follow…
