Beach soccer (also known as beasal) has recently grown from a gritty pastime on the sands of Brazil to one of the fastest-growing professional sports in the world, boasting organized events on the beaches of more than seventy countries. At the grassroots level here in the US, dozens of amateur beasal tournaments now crowd both coasts and are reaching into the heartland.
